Hot Water System

Hot water systems age regardless of consistent maintenance, so it is important to take notice of a water heater that is looking a bit worse for wear or has not been correctly checked by a licensed plumber.

It only takes 2 minutes to check the age and condition of your storage hot water system and it can save you so much hassle.

Keep an eye out for rusty/brown coloured hot water. This is not normal, it generally means the hot water system or pipework is rusted and is close to complete failure.

Storage water heaters generally last 8 to 12 years. How long they last will depend on things like the water quality, installation location and the quality/brand of the unit. As a general rule when a storage hot water system is more than 10 years old, it is best replaced… of course there are some exceptions for solar hot water heaters, stainless steel models and continuous flow systems.

If you have any trouble checking your hot water system give us a call and we can check it out for you. Generally we can complete a basic check free of charge.
